Haworthiopsis is a genus of small succulent plants, previously included within the larger genus Haworthia. These distinctive plants are native primarily to Southern Africa, including countries like South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, and Eswatini. They are prized by collectors for their diverse forms, textures, and relatively easy care.
Light: They thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Some morning sun is usually tolerated, but harsh, direct afternoon sun can scorch the leaves.
Soil: A well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix is essential to prevent root rot.
Watering: Water thoroughly but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly during their winter dormancy period.
Temperature: Average room temperatures (65-75°F or 18-24°C) are suitable. They should be protected from frost.
